Annual update from the CEO
Year 2020
Happy new year! This marks WPCCU's third year of our digital transformation journey; converting our old legacy systems into more innovative, member-friendly, cool technologies designed to meet your needs.
One of our most far reaching accomplishments this year has to be our new website. You asked us to improve the look and feel as well as its intuitiveness - we did it. You wanted something fresh, informative, and actually fun to read - we did that too. And what you see is just phase one. Just wait for phase two. Please check it out at wpccu.org. We also completed work on our new lending platform, which will translate into faster and easier service for you whether you interact with us in person or online.
We did, and are doing a number of initiatives and events that directly impact the lives of many. We are committed to helping our members throughout all of their life stages. For many, that means giving them the financial advice they need to transition into retirement smoothly and successfully. In 2019, we helped more than 1,000 members do just that. We know that we are truly blessed with loyal, generous members who want us to give back to the community and help those less fortunate than we are. This year, we supported the LA Mission; Sketchers Pier-to- Pier Friendship Walk (supporting foundations that exist to help children with special needs and education); Children's Hospital Los Angeles, a Back-to-School Backpack drive (bought and assembled school supplies for a Pacoima elementary school); and the LADWP Science Bowl. Because we are able when so many others are not, we can and will do more community outreach throughout Los Angeles County in 2020.
Now for the amazing financial news! Your credit
union is stronger than it has ever been in our
83-year history. We ended 2019 with over $5.8
million in net income, raising our total capital (our piggy bank), to over $66 million.
You entrust us with $640 million of your hard-earned
savings (your piggy bank), and relied on us for your borrowing needs to the tune of more than $410 million in outstanding loans.
Today, our brand promise to you, human-centered banking shines brightly whether you stop by one of our five branches, talk to us on the phone, or visit us online. We are the best credit union in Los Angeles and we will continue to constantly and consistently improve for our members. All of this is possible because we have an amazing, dedicated staff that personifies our brand.
I hope 2020 is your best year ever. And, I offer my favorite Irish proverb once again, "May this year bring you health, wealth, happiness, and most importantly, the time to enjoy all three."
Warmest regards,
Barry Roach
